Once the exclusive domain of women, injectables for men are becoming as common as male skincare products.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Botox treatments are the number one non-invasive cosmetic procedure for men. Treatments have shot up since 2000, soaring from just over 265,000 procedures to more than 4.4 Million in 2020. Dermal fillers for men aren’t far behind. They have increased from 118,614 to 3,088,967 during the same time period.
And there is no stopping the growth of injectables. From selfies and social media to the pandemic-fueled Zoom Boom, as well as the job market’s focus on youth, means this uptick won’t slow down.
Known colloquially as “Brotox” when the product is used for men, Botox is seen as the “gateway” to other non-invasive cosmetic procedures. Botox is the most widely known brand name for botulinum toxin injections. But there are others, like Dysport, which is another top brand used at Naya.
Botox is often used for men to reduce crow’s feet around the eyes or the furrow between the brows. (Younger men, like younger women, are also opting for Botox to help prevent wrinkles.) Meanwhile, dermal fillers – or hyaluronic acid, a gel-like substance naturally occurring in the body – are a favorite for jawline definition and to reduce sunken areas beneath the eye.
